That seems an almost impossible question to answer. Both the chi flat iron and the chi hair straighteners get an average rating of about 4 out of 5. Each seems to have loyal and happy customers and there seems to be very few owners of one flat iron who switch over to the other.

Fever delivered the easiest server-based install I've ever experienced.

An iPhone interface is built-in. It slurped up 600+ feeds from my Google Reader OPML export with no problem and is fetching feeds regularly from cron.

It's definitely worth the one-time fee of $30.

This is really great stuff. Just installed Fever and imported my feeds from OPML, let's see where that will go.

I think I'll omit NetNewsWire in no time :-)

David,

Yep, a hosted version would be awesome. But it isn't Shaun's model. He wants to stay a one-man outfit. A hosted version would require ad sales, server acquisition, and ultimately more people working on the app.

The auto-update capability provides the up-to-date benefit of a hosted app while keeping it all manageable for Shaun. As far as try before you buy, it's only 30 bucks, one time. It's worth buying if you're at all interested, if only to experience the amazing product design of the thing.

Totally agree -- fever could be an RSS / information-consumption game changer. What an awesome way to separate signal from noise.

The problem? You have to self-host it and you can't try before you buy.

If I could play with it for free for a week and I didn't have to host it I would happily pay $30 -- or even a re-occurring subscription.
